PARIS & NEW YORK LIGHT PLUMES, by artist Stuart Williams, is a dual-city art event being sponsored by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). The facades of two historic buildings are temporarily transformed with light... making them appear to be “slowly breathing.” Says the artist, “I see this project as having the compelling potential to bring two great world cities together in a shared public art experience.” All lighting utilizes energy-efficient LED technology. The project is currently in planning for both cities.

Stuart Williams’ work as an environmental artist has been critically acclaimed around the globe. For nearly three decades, his monumental installations have rolled over sweeping expanses of ranch land in California, and have floated on the moats of picturesque chateaux in France. From the Alps to Central Park, and from Los Angeles to Seattle, his head-turning, and mesmerizing temporary works, have a long gestation period and a brief, but vibrant existence.
Peter Selz — former curator / MoMA, New York —
said of Williams’ work, “It emanates a sense of the romantic sublime, with its aura of surprise and wonder.”
Allen Temko — Pulitzer Prize-winning critic / San Franciso Chronicle —
wrote of Williams’ Luminous Earth Grid, “It is unquestionably the most ambitious work of environmental art in the San Francisco Bay Area since Christo's Running Fence… it is a joyful thing.”
Andy Warhol —
“Oh...... those are beautiful...”
